Baby G you are currently 13.5 weeks, as of 5/1/10 you weighed 19.14 lbs and 26 in long. When I look at you, I see a small happy chunky baby who currently loves sucking on his hands especially his right hand. So at this moment my lovely little chunky baby love we are at War!!
Let me explain how a loving 30 year old mother can be at war with a loving 13.5 week old baby....baby is hungry so what do I do? I feed my baby...well it is hard feeding on the Right because Baby G wants to eat and suck on his fist at the same time or he pops off, sucks on his fist ravenously as if he was being starved, then starts to cry because he is hungry. So them Mommy latches Baby G back on and we start the whole process again, I am using my free hand to hold his right hand away from his mouth or distract him so he can finish eating a complete meal instead of this snacking/finger sucking that he prefers. Well guess what? Baby G is pretty strong and I should not have to use any muscle to pull his hand away, but I have to because he stiffens up and the last thing I want to do is injure him...so we are comparatively speaking in a THUMB WAR!!
Baby G you have to be almost half way to dreamland before I'll switch you to the right otherwise we spend the next 30 min fighting and you getting cranky because you are not being feed....aye little man!!! At first it is funny then we both become frustrated. This past Saturday I started lecturing you, while you just stared at me, quietly sucking your fingers even though I took them out repeatedly..when I was done with my lecture you started whimpering...it was cute...and then started nuzzling at my breast which I covered since you wanted to play. Aye little baby G...After a patchy Saturday morning of "Thumb Wars" we took off to Mommy/Baby Yoga which we both enjoyed. This particular instructor did more baby centered activities instead of you just playing on your tummy or back, it was great. I walked up the stairs with you in your carrier and when I went to sign-in the receptionist offered to hold you while I checked-in. She took your carrier and instantly said "Wow, you are getting your workout with this little one"...lol! When you first entered our lives, you were so tiny (to me) and your carrier was so heavy, now 3 months in I am carrying you(in carseat) up the stairs with diaper bag in tow... I am quite proud of myself thank you.
I always forgot to mention tiny tidbits about you that I love...when I change your diaper, you instantly raise your legs up and keep them up until a new diaper is placed on you, thank you baby g. Your little head gets covered in sweat while you eat and your head smells like strawberries, daddy thought I was crazy until he finally smelled it the other night. When you get cranky in the car, mommy sings to you and instantly calms you down. You are slowly sleeping unswaddled more every night, I sometimes lightly wrap you up at first and then you fight yourself out of it, then keep on sleeping. When I hear hand sucking I know you are awake because you haven't yet figured out how to return to sleep on your own...partly our fault I suppose...I said partly. We wait and listen to you coo, move about, and then finally come in when your cooing is about to escalate to a full out crying fest, which by the way you have woken up 3 times this weekend crying horribly, which had me running in to get you...we can't figure out what it was, either way...you slept great today according to grams.
Your grandmother is taking great care of you, but she fails to forget that when I arrive, all good behavior or activities you like to do with her, you refuse to do with me and want to be stuck to me 24/7. Let's be honest I do not mind, unless I have to do things like take a shower, =p. She always starts off by saying, Well when I take care of him... all in good nature, but I had to remind her that you are totally different when just with Mommy and Daddy.
Daddy is trying to get Mommy to stay active, because she has been very lazy and getting on the ball, I will be good one week, we get rain or have to run some errands and I get so sidetracked. So he is helping me out and so are you, by being patient while I slowly turkey trot and push you through the jogging trails. I'll slowly get back up to speed and slowly shed off the weight once again.
Your christening gown came in, we instantly put tried it on you...you look so cute, very little house on the prairie..mommy went old school with it. I need to get your name embroidered on it asap!! Mommy also got a cute outfit after many tries and almost helpless desperation..I was getting very frustrated with shopping, which is totally not me...but post baby Tanya is not cute, but I am working on it.
On the mommy front, I love being a MOM! Love it, Love it! I hold you extra long at night while you sleep, so we cuddle and then I finally put you down, because I have to do last minute preparations for the next day, then squeeze in some sleep before you wake up. Yes you are still waking up, actually more often than usual but it's fine. I'm a little doozy in the morning but Baby G it is all worth it, you will never be this age again and time is surely flying by so fast. Today I got all teary-eyed just cuddling with you...You are talking so much and started giggling when I play with you, its precious!
Your smile makes everything worth it and I can't wait to see ya under the coconut tree! Nite nite Baby G!
Congrats to my Brother Danilo and Denise on their future Baby girl! ETA September 2010!
