So Monday, I woke up at 6AM to an alarm clock that I have heard the past 9 weeks, but haven't paid attention to because it was for Luan...so sad. I took a shower and got ready, aroused a sleeping Baby G who woke up congested throughout the night. We nursed for a good while and I was able to cuddle him while he slept and ate. I placed him back in his crib and went to prepare breakfast. I was mentally fine because I was busy making sure I had my books, pump and snacks ready. It was time to leave so I stepped into the room where my mom was already on duty (=p) to kiss Baby G goodbye one last time.......I LOST IT!!!! Tears and tears flowed down my face all the way to work, while my loving husband tried to calm me down. I composed myself and focused on one hour at a time. My students and co-workers welcomed me back, which helped make time fly by. 20 minute break snuck up on me quickly and I hurriedly got ready so that I could pump. I can see that it might become an issue at work, because we have mini meetings or people just want to be messy....well guess what...Oh Well, it's going to happen..no matter what!!! 12pm arrived and I raced out of there as quickly as I could. I pumped in the car on the way home as Luan drove, hey I didn't want to stick around to pump when I could easily do it in the car. LOL. We finally made it home, I raced inside to find GIo sleeping in my mother's arms, I quickly changed and finally scooped up my baby into my arms as he cooed and cuddled into my shoulder...I LOST IT AGAIN!!!
Grandma Lety reported that they played for an hour, no problem taking a bottle, fell asleep in his swing while both grandma's doted on him, woke up crying and then fell asleep again in her arms where I found them. He did so good. She also mentioned that he was still congested and slightly coughed, of course I panic, but my mom calmed me down for once. Baby G and I played for a while, until he was ready to eat and nap again. We took a great nap together and then played for the rest of the evening, which flew by so fast. Since he we had been practicing his naps over the weekend, he is obviously doing so well for grandma Lety who has time to do lots of things while he naps. I guess he is overspoiled when I am there...I guess...I am not going to admit to anything! Hubby went out to run some errands since Baby G was under the weather and I stayed with him. He got an Ionic Purifier for our room. Our room gets so stuffy at night while the rest of the house is cold, it's random which we believe has contributed to our congested noses in the morning. He also got the Nosefrida, which is so much better than those sucky nose bulbs...it allows for better suctioning of the nose and you don't have to poke the baby at all. We did saline drops in his nose and then suctioned it out, which helped him breathe alot better. The night continued and poor Baby G seemed more congested as the night continued.
Tuesday-We finally woke up, Luan took over breakfast duties, while I slept in a little bit longer as Baby G fed. I finally got ready and we were out, with one last kiss goodbye. No crying, yea. I have the picture of Baby G on my cellphone as my wallpaper, where he is looking up from the sunglasses. Well I imagined that Baby G was saying "Mom do not leave me, it's not right!".....Crying commences, I can't even finish my breakfast which I end up throwing up because I was crying so hard. I know I know, I will get better. I call my mom while I pump, to check up on GIo, which of course he is doing well and actually slept it today, my grandma and mom calmed me down and assured me Baby G was fine. I had started Baby G on WishGarden Cold Symptoms for Kids Homeopathic Remedy the night before, which at first I doubted. Well when I got home...baby G was sleeping of course and he sounded alot better!! He finally woke up and it was Mommy and Baby time. We had a great evening playing with Daddy as well. Once again the evening flies by...he took another nap around 5 and I was forced to go out for a walk by the Hubby, which was great and Louie got some personal time, poor baby Louie...I am trying to make an effort, we both are! Baby G is finally down for the night well until 12/1. So I am sneaking in dinner and last minute clean-up efforts for the day.
Things that I have noted..Even though I spend every possible minute with Baby G that I can...I miss him the most during his longest stretch of sleep, because I can't hold him or cuddle with him. When he finally wakes up at 12/1, even though I am drowsy because I was able to squeeze in a 2-3 hr stretch of sleep, I love it because it's time for Baby G and I. Luan can't stop stating how attached I am to Baby G, he wonders who needs who more, Baby G or me. Oh yea, by the way, we are no longer having feeding issues..it must have been a phase, thank god! But Luan is right, I need Baby G, I love when he feeds, he looks around and then finally focuses on me as he sneaks a smile while he eats, I love it!!! I hope that everyone breastfeeds if they are able to, because it is the most enjoyable experience ever!! He is finally napping throughout the day, hopefully this is not a phase and continues it because naps are very important! One more thing...while I was pregnant I was so indecisive on what I wanted to eat and did not really have any cravings...presently...all I want is coffee and chocolate!!! It must be the stress cravings, well whatever it is, I love it, but I have to fight daily not to cave in! Need to get back on the workout wagon, which I did today...thank you loving hubby! One day at a time! Baby G is obviously in great hands, otherwise I wouldn't have returned to work no matter how much I needed the money. People make sacrifices all the time and I would have and although it would be tough financially, it is very tempting to stay home....but I won't for now!=p Well it's time for me to wrap this up, I can hear Baby G through the monitor and the congestion and runny nose have significantly decreased...Yea..hope it stays that way! Time for me to sneak in some ZZZ's.
Every nite when we put Baby G to bed, Luan tells him that we will see him in a bit under the coconut tree where we can play and have fun while we sleep and dream. So Baby G I will shortly meet ya under the coconut tree, love ya!

9 Weeks!
For the past 9 Weeks around 8-9 AM, I have woken up to these gorgeous round almond eyes, a cute little mouth with wide yawns, little arms and legs stretching, stretching and a smile that melts my heart when baby G finally focuses on Moi!!! We lay and talk of what the days' activities might include, babble about whatever comes to mind, snuggle and lots of kisses go on during our morning wake up.
At 9 weeks, Giovanni you are just winning everyone over with your lovely, cuddly self and those cheeks...I can't get enough of!! Grandparents, family and friends can't get enough of you and I don't blame them. In the past two days we finally have started napping! Yea! You might only do 30 min at a time, wake up, need some loving and then you pass out for another 30 min. Woohoo! Let's keep this up. Night time we are still going to sleep at 7:30ish or 8ish then we wake up at 1am, 4am,7am. Really good for us! This week you have extended your eating schedule from every 2 hours to 3-4, all by yourself, although towards the evening you like to feed more constantly. We did go to another baby/mommy yoga class and we had a great time! I saw some of the moms from the support group there and chatted a bit. While at the motherhood center, I bought a nighttime nursing bra and new pacifiers that you actually enjoy for a wee bit. I was worrying over the topics that mommy discussed with the NP, but after talking to daddy, he advised to listen and choose what to change or keep everything the same. I decided to take it day by day and that has helped alot!
Friday-Ba Noi came to visit and we went on our 3 mile walk, which you loved and slept the whole way. Saturday-Grandparents Nguyen celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary. We went to eat at Tokyo One, where you slept the first 20 minutes and then it was time for you to wake up. I don't mind going out to eat, if you are sleeping, because I can keep you covered in your car seat, but I get anxious in crowded areas, I know I know I can't put you in a bubble, but I am still not exactly comfortable either. Well it was getting late and daddy finally sensed my discomfort and we packed up and came home. I was worried that it would be a crazy night since we altered your routine, but it wasn't that bad, thankfully. We also purchased more Flip diapers for you and the Hava Sling in Mia, can't wait to get it! The Flip diapers are amazing and work great, the GroBaby I probably will not purchase again. Some people have great success with them, but we have not so far.
Sunday-We woke up early to you cooing and stretching!! Cleaned up the room and kept up with your napping schedule. Today was great!!! My Fraternity Sisters-Luci Adames, Lisa Perez and Melissa Soriano came over to visit. They gave you cute clothing and flowers for your mommy! We do not see each other daily, but we can talk for hours. It was great catching up and can't believe how time has flown since we all were at the Lake. We then went to Lucy's house, who hosted a Early Easter Party and hung out with Adolfo and Iliana. They also gave you, your first easter basket, so cute! You enjoyed time in Tia Lucy's arms and Auntie Cheva, while mommy and daddy ate yummy BBQ!
I started the week dreading going back to work, but spending time with friends and family, distracted me from today being my last day of maternity leave. I am only going to work part-time but I will miss waking up to you daily. Mommy will be home after lunch and we will have the rest of the day for play and cuddle time! Be nice to grandma Lety and please continue taking your naps! Mommy and Daddy love you!!!
PS Giovanni...You love to model sunglasses, or more like Daddy likes you in sunglasses. Love those cheeks!

2 Months and 1 week
Happy 2 Months Baby Giovanni!!!
Yesterday-Giovanni and I enjoyed Mommy/Baby Yoga. What exactly does Giovanni do...well he has tummy time or lays on his back and coos at mommy as she stretches and bends all around and on top of him. It was so nice to workout but not have to leave his side. I had read to bring babies in a carrier because some moves require you to carry them, but nope, he laid out while I did all the hard work. If your baby was fussy, hungry, crying or needed a diaper change, go ahead..no problem. It was great, towards the end Baby G got fussy and it was time to nurse during the cool down part of class, so we did. We finished class and then took a tour of the Motherhood Center for other classes in the future. I am happy I was able to take him with me and we will probably go back tomorrow. They do not have class in the evenings, but I will be able to attend a Saturday class once I go back to work. The receptionist mentioned that if I had time there was a new/expecting mom support group meeting, if I wanted to join. Well Baby G was sleeping so I figured why not. There were 4 expecting moms and 4 new moms, all with bambinos around Gio's age. Guess what...Gio was the biggest of them all. 2-6 months old arrived and Gio was still bigger than them. Hmm?? Anywhoo, we started talking sleep patterns, of course Gio does as he pleases and still wakes up every 2-3 hours. I was given suggestions on adding cereal to his milk or maybe adding formula. I just smiled and was also told to skip some feedings. Well it was time for me to go. I was also in workout clothes from class, but even if I hadn't come to class, I would not have been dressed up. These new moms were all dressed up, full makeup, jewelry, heels, etc. How the hell do they do it? I guess they have more time or take more time for themselves. I am lucky to shower eventually and to get out of my last night pjs and right into my new pjs for the day or my regular tank and workout pants. Hmm...Maybe I should dress up, but if I am staying home all day, what is the point, pregnant or new mom or not, I was always very casual at home....to each his own.
After class we went home to rest and meet up dad before our 2 month appt. We met with Dee, NP for our appt and we discussed feeding, sleeping and developmental. So from my description of our daily schedule, Gio is not sleeping enough and could go about 6 hours between feedings because of his weight. Well that's nice, but it just isn't happening, just because that is in the book, doesn't mean it will always occur that way for each and every child. We have had problems with naps, where he has fought them off and on, if there is movement he naps great, no movement=no nap. So when we are on walks or car rides he is out like a log. At home I can get him to squeeze a 30 -45 min power nap. So Dee suggested lots of different techniques, some that I am not comfortable doing such as crying it out (NO) and laying him down semi-awake so that he can self soothe and fall asleep on his own, otherwise he is going to continue having issues. Especially at 4 months when there are other developmental milestones to reach, we need to get his sleeping pattern down. Well, we currently get a good 4-5 hour stretch when we initially put him down to sleep, otherwise it is every 2-3 hours. Dee is coming from her own personal experience, because she had trouble with her son and finally did CIO at 17 months, which she said was hell and she also didn't sleep for 17 months. I know she is trying to help, but I am not comfortable with CIO, because I know I won't reinforce it, I'll cave and pick him right up. It also doesn't help that he sleeps in our room, where else am I going to go. Also him waking up every 2-3 hours is a big no no for her, since he should be sleeping longer. Should and what he is actually doing are two different things. He isn't and what am I going to do, not feed him for 6 hours? Feedings should only be 10 min on each breast, no human pacifier allowed. Hmm...there goes another thing on the bad list Mommy has been doing. If he starts using me as a pacifier, I am to put him down do show negative behavior=negative response (no momma love). A pacifier might also help to soothe, since he has a great sucking reflex. There were other suggestions as well..blah! We finally left, a sleepy Gio because he was grumpy from the visit and a sad mom who felt that she has over spoiled her child and now has to start from square one.
2 month Check-up: 15lbs 14 oz and 23 in long.
Dee did reassure us that his weight was good and that you cannot have an overweight breastfeed baby. So now all those comments of oh my he is overweight...please keep them to yourselves, he is not!
We got home and tried putting him down semi-awake, didn't work quite so well...Evening went on and finally grumpy pants Gio finally went to sleep of course in Mommy's arms.
Today-Night/Early Morning went well, honestly no change because that is what I am used to. I did soothe him back to sleep at 230 when he woke up till 345 when he was finally ready to eat. Next wake up 600, not bad. 815-leaky diaper=awake Gio, I don't blame him. We played, fed and then I was able to put him down to sleep semi-awake. Woohoo!!! 15 min later....The yardmen finally woke him up, great! Round two-Soothe back to sleep for 15 min longer and he was up again. Play time. 1PM-Nap time, I placed him in his crib semi-awake and he fell asleep till 1:45, what woke him up this time? Leaky Diaper-uggh! poor thing. So we are up playing, daddy comes home, Gio falls asleep again on his own, poor lil man he is tired. He wakes up 30 min later, Daddy is trying to soothe Gio, but his cries escalate, I think it's feeding time again, well a concerned grandmother walks in. Daddy is trying to calm baby down to relax by ssshhiing and rocking, by the way he is swaddled (as he is every time he naps and goes to sleep for the night). I tell grams to allow Daddy to calm baby down. Well I am then told that we are suffocating and torturing our child by my unorthodox methods and that she has taken care of many children and never used these absurd ideas..etc, etc. Thank you grandmother. Not only do I already feel crappy from our doc visit because I am doing Gio a disservice by not creating good sleeping or feeding habits, I am also now torturing my child, among other things.
Well if you look at Giovanni, he is not phased by any of this at all, he is happy, cuddly and cooing. We are going to make some changes to our daily routine but who knows. We are very blessed to have a lot of support as we go along this new journey as parents, but it can be overwhelming and belittling at times. I wish everyone would remember that we all had to start somewhere. I more than anyone need to keep that in perspective and not give myself such a hard time, but it is easier said than done.
On a brighter note, baby G is up and ready to play, so I am off. Needed some venting and updating.

Day Light Savings changes everything...
So this week has been crazy....is the DLS or full moon...who knows...but its been the twilight zone...
So 3 weeks ago I found a hard lump in Gio's neck.....I thought..tight muscle-SCM (sternocleidomastoid), little torticollis. I let it go....Then baby got fever, luan found it as well, we just thought tight muscle. We massaged it, adjusted him..kept going. Well we started having problems feeding...he was pushing off and then this week it was a horrible. The one thing that I feel I do best is breastfeeding..yes we have some latching issues here and there, but I love BF my little one. So this week, starting Monday night, we were feeding, 5 min later he pulls off and starts crying uncontrollably. He is hungry, we haven't fed in two hours, this is our usual routine to feed after shower, but he is just crying, 2 hours later, concerned grandmother hovering, me- sad mom and a concerned dad, we give him a bottle and he is happy for a bit, one hour later some more crying, I finally entice him to feed, but he is also tired from all the crying. We took off his cloth diaper, maybe that is the culprit, change his clothes, nothing would calm him down, but especially we had to get him away from his feeding zone (me) because that would make the cries stronger. So of course I felt useless and sad....He finally eats, falls asleep from exhaustion probably and the rest of the night/morning goes on ok, because he barely wakes up and feeds half-asleep. Next morning, I think maybe that was just a phase, some colicky night....Nope this whole week, we feed for 5-10 min and then he pulls off and starts crying....Where did my happy Gio go?? I start investigating...thrush, blisters, my diet. his pampers..etc. I haven't changed anything in my diet, but I do have stress, because I start freaking out about his neck tightness.
I go to my midwife to get checked out for possible yeast infection, UTI?? Nope. Tell her about Gio, she palpates, advises for immediate checkup with pedi, bc could be possible neurofibroma, lymph node, scar tissue, etc. Well I stopped listening at neurofibroma and my heart starts beating too fast, probably making me crazy all week long. I start looking for a new pedi because after our hospital scare I really don't trust our current one, but I love his staff, so I am torn. I call few pedi's that were recommended, some are not taking new patients, and others I couldn't get scheduled till Thursday. So I finally decide on a pedi, make appt for 3:45. Well Luan is picking us up to take us, but traffic is horrible..(rodeo in town is making traffic crazier in houston) and so I call in that we are running 10 min late, receptionist says ok. I get a call back..sorry but you need to reschedule, NP appts take long and doctor has to leave by 5, etc, etc. I was pissed, I am not waiting another day for this to get checked out, bc by Thursday, BF has been a nightmare =(. So who do I end up calling, our original pedi who schedules us bc we are existing patients last minute. So we go in.everyone is cooing at Gio..pedi comes in, I tell him my concerns about BF. He said no problem since he is obviously healthy and what I mean by obvious...15 lbs 11 oz healthy. He checks his neck...tight muscle. He suggests some stretches and we are off. What?? Tight muscle. I was right the whole time, but I didn't trust my mother's instincts and that seed of doubt was planted in my head and I ran with it...Uggh! Seriously I need to get it together...Lack of sleep I tell ya.. I even went as far as talking to Lactation Consultants, a La Leche League leader and even went to a BF support group, but no help. The consultant said it was not a BF issue, it was something bigger and I had to investigate the issue...La Leche suggested he was going through a feeding strike..that one made more sense...but either way..nothing has changed.
I start looking through my chiro books and talking to my friend Leslie about the situation, which helped bring back the old confidence and further helped for me to trust my mother's intuition. I love and practice Activator Methods, so I use that to evaluate Gio. Why I haven't done this before, I do not know, I was palpating only, which works just as well, but I prefer Activator Methods. I look through my old notes, hello activator pediatric adjusting..jeez I just did a refresher course, but with lack of sleep and being a new mom...the old mouse is not running as fast on the wheel these days...=p So we have been doing stretches and adjusting and I am happy to say the knot is slowly decreasing.. YAY!! and guess what??? Today--Less crying during feeds, good latch and no pushing off.. Yea. Let's hope it lasts through the night tonight, that is the real test. I also tested for Hiatal Hernia which can cause some reflex aka colic aka reflux. I am a chiropractor but was not looking at Gio as a patient and only as a concerned mom worried about her baby, I need to do both and stop focusing on external BS!! I had what Gio needed all along, Me the Mom/Chiro!! I need to focus, yes I know it will come with time!
On a happier note, we were visited by Danny and Denise, Mon-Wed. It felt like a huge sleepover and I even snuck out for some shopping with Denise! I was determined to buy only one pair of jeans, since ummm old jeans are not fitting yet...boo!!! Ok well one pair of jeans turned into some tops and an extra pair of pants, LOL. I will fully blame this on Denise! LOL. Danny and Denise bought my jeans for me and then some! Thank you! I have been fully blessed by them during pregnancy and early months of motherhood..I just can't say thank you enough!!! Love you Guys!! I also introduced them to the Chocolate Bar, OMG Yummy, We had a buffet of various chocolate cakes and mint ice cream, yummy!! When they come and visit, I tend to overeat and overeat....hmm and I wonder why I am not losing this weight....??Hmm...Oh well.
Cloth Diapers-Love them!!! Did I tell you Gio gave us a 5 hour stretch of sleep twice this week, whether it's exhaustion or the diapers, I do not know, But I am loving them. I ran out of the Flip, so I used the GroBaby pair we have...not too impressed. The Flip system is awesome! Poopy diapers are no fun, disposable or cloth, but you work right through it! Totally going to invest in more soon, we were trying them out, but I am sold, we still use the disposables, but I like having options.
Gio turns 2 months tomorrow, will come back and post some pics manana or later this week. This is my last full week with him and I am going to enjoy every second. Man time flies by, I know when I am at work, I will probably be pushing my students out of the way when 12 pm comes around, LOL. Well Little Baby G is off in lalala land and I am following close behind. Nite Nite!!
Week 7
Whaat??? Where in the world does time go??? Aggh my baby is growing so fast, it is crazy! Is it selfish of me to want him to stay this little and cuddly forever? Nope I think not!! =p
Well this week was nice just relaxing and cuddling. Same ol same ol and loving it! If cuddling and kissing Giovanni all day long is wrong, then I do not want to be Right!!! (ala Kelly Ripa). We wake up around 930ish...then we eat as we watch Regis and Kelly. Then we are off to play time, while mom finishes breakfast and pumps. Gio gives me about 30 min in his swing, then we are off to sing and play, maybe a little nap. Gio is on a 2 hr eating schedule or how he pleases. He eats again around 11ish/12. Daddy comes home around this time and then maybe a nap with dad, while mom cleans up, finally showers =p and usually lays down for a family nap. We wake up of course to feed then off for some walking, cleaning up the room. Man our little room gets messy quick! Gio is loving his walks in his stroller or when he is being carried in the Moby carrier. After our walk, guess what its either play time and then some feeding. Around 730ish-Gio bathes and then off for his night cap of breast milk that can last for an hour. It's best if Gio feeds to his heart content otherwise there is no sleeping =p. As much as I feel like a Human Pacifier, it doesn't bother me at all. We then burp, swaddle and cuddle. Then Gio is laid down in his crib to sleep around 9/10ish. He gives us about a 3 hour stretch then we are up every 2 hours, usually first one at either 12/1 then 3,5,7,8 till 930ish. I really don't have much time for anything else than being a Mom and once again if that's wrong, then I don't want to be Right!!!
I finished reading the Breastfeeding book and almost done with Attached Parenting by Dr. Sears. Very interesting.... I do not follow AP to the T, but I do practice most of the principles which are: Birth Bonding, Breastfeeding, Baby wearing, Bedding close to baby, Belief in the language value of you baby's cry, beware of baby trainers and balance (I need lots of help in this department =p). There are so many books out there, it's crazy! When you become pregnant that is one extreme and when you are finally a parent, it is another extreme of information overload. The best that I can do right now is enjoy my time with Gio as I see fit. These books are great for resources, but they are not becoming my bible or what I must and cannot do. Everyone will have different parenting ways and we are slowly building one and changing it along the way! Gio is still sometimes having problems latching on, but now I know that is my fault for not guiding him on correctly, once we fix that...easy pesy and no more soreness. I almost went to a La Leche League meeting, which I really do want to attend, but it is held at a hospital and well what is the point of taking a healthy baby into a hospital for a meeting, I need to find one outside of that setting. Yes I cannot incubate my child 24/7 but no point in taking chances. I am not trying to focus on returning to work, but I am slowly getting grandma Lety to do more things like change a diaper, hehehe. Well honestly, Luan and I have tried not to burden them with extra work, or maybe we are baby hogging... (Woops!) (FYI I have free time right now bc Grams Nguyen is holding baby, otherwise no blogging...=0). I have found mommy groups for Attached Parenting, Young Moms, Babywearers of Houston, etc. I want to and eventually will attend these meetings, but I am going to wait for Mr. Gio to get a little older. Although after this week I do realize I need to talk to other ppl. lol.... Lucy and Kristi came over for a girl's night, which Lucy blessed us with a yummy dinner from Fadi's. It was great catching up with the girls all from the comfort of my home, while Gio hung out with us. Kristi asked when our next girl's night out out will be...I said in 10 months when I am not breastfeeding,,,lol! JK. I probably will get more of a hang of things when I go back to work, like pump and be comfortable leaving Baby with a sitter=Grandparents. But until then I will just take it easy. Who knew I would be this attached....ok we all knew, but once again I love it!
As much as I love my Moby Wrap carrier, I stumbled upon BabyWearer Website and started researching other types, I am not for the sling, because all the weight primarily stays on one shoulder, hence I chose the Moby, weight is nicely distributed. But I haven't been able to BF Gio in the Moby yet. I was noticing that it would be easier in a sling and to put on faster. I love my Moby wrap, it just bothers me that it is so long and I would hate for it to get dirty if the ends drag, see germaphobe! Anywhoo I stumbled across an article for plus-size baby wearer options and now I want a sling..lol! So on Saturday on a quest for our cloth diapers and sling we finally went to Nurtured Family which is down the street from Luan's parents home. I tried on the Hava Sling and I am in love, the cost not so much, but I am going to get one. Luan is not sold on it because once again all the weight is on one shoulder, but we will see. I love these special boutique type stores, because the sales people are so informative on babywearing, BF and cloth diapers. The sales lady helped me with positioning for BF in my Moby and in the Hava sling. We also finally bought our cloth diapers!!! WoooHOOO! We bought 2 Flip Day Pack Stay Dry, 4 extra inserts, and a dry diaper bag for our pail. We chose the Flip Cloth Diaper System because, it is very similar to the GroBaby line, it includes an outside over and insert. So you just toss the used insert into your diaper pail, replace the insert with a clean and reuse the cover. The Flip is also great because it is a one-size cover and insert which adjusts to fit most babies from 7-35 lbs, so these diapers will grow with baby.
Today was a very successful Sunday. We met up with my co-worker Wendy for brunch at Ruggles. I fed baby before we left the house, then he slept nice and comfy in the Moby while we ate. Well you know how I can get to talking...Gio woke up and was ready to eat and I used the tips from the day before and positioned Gio for BF in the Moby. I still used the coverup just in case. I think I might have flashed some people..oh well..baby gots to eat. I am more worried with my love handles being exposed than my boobs! Seriously, can't have my wobbly bits out for display, por favor. Anywhoo, he fed and fell back asleep. We then left and went over to Woman's Work boutique and perused. I finally found breast shields in a bigger size for pumping. They have tons of Medela products, a lactation consultant and other resources. Since I will not have time to clean my pump parts between my breaks, I got an extra set of accessories, they have small little sets, so that you don't have to buy the whole caboodle. Love it! I wanted some nursing tops, but this is where I draw the line...I will not pay 50++bucks for tops, so sorry, I will be hiking up my top to feed or just invest in some button-down tops. 50+bucks are they crazy?? Anywhoo, we walked around for a bit, it was so cute seeing our reflection, I still can't believe we are parents. I just couldn't stop staring at us in the windows as we walked by, same ol luan and tanya, but Gio snuggled up in the carrier, wow, love it!!! It was such a beautiful Sunday, the weather was perfect and we didn't overheat. We also purchased Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of U2 CD. Listen, this is the first CD we have purchased in about 9 years and it is so worth it. There is a Bob Marley one and we are definitely going back for that one!!! Totally recommend!!! Luan dropped us off at home, he took off to go bike riding with his brother, while Gio, Louie and I went for a walk in the neighborhood. Gorgeous Sunday!!
We just put Gio in his first set of cloth diapers, I will give you a full review later this week!

zombie land...
So it was too good to be true, I think Gio knew that it was the weekend and we were chilling, therefore he slept long stretches or we are currently going through a growth spurt. WOW. The last two nights it's been up every 2 hours and then fighting naps throughout the day. Last night specifically, he was not having it! He would snack and then fall asleep, all the pokes and nuzzles we did to wake him, he could care less. He would not budge, so we would put him back in his crib....30-50 min later, we are up. 5 AM, Gio decided it was play time, so here we go....playing and laughing with Gio, we are dead tired, but can't resist smiles and coos. Poor Luan had to go to work while I wrestled with a mad Gio who started crying uncontrollably, and refused latching on, till he got frustrated. He latches on with such a fury, then falls asleep and stops nursing. Human Pacifier, here I come again. He finally latches on, because it's feeding time and slowly falls asleep, I swaddle him up, because his little hands wake him. 30 min later, I wake up to his crying. Poor thing, I know he is not hungry or wet, either he wants cuddling or strong rooting reflex help. I pick him up, burp for a while and then a cute lil Gio falls asleep on my shoulder. So I lay back down with him on my shoulder because let's be honest at this point we are both desperate for some rest. I wake up two hours later with a numb shoulder but a cuddly sleeping baby. Bad habit forming? Who cares!!!! A little baby needed rest and so did his momma! =p
I am thinking about going to a La Leche League meeting tomorrow, maybe get some help. We were doing so well latching on, but Momma is sore. Or Gio can just be going through a phase.. He does know the difference between night and day now..We are still working with his schedule and haven't found a good medium. We either bathe him to early or too late, or start feeds to late or early, then it just goes crazy. Sometimes it is hot or cold, here...Houston weather, so we either over/under dress him, so frustrating. It's a learning game, I know. I am just exhausted. Waiting for Luan to get home, so I can go for a walk with Gio, I left the stroller in the car and then I am off to snoozeland, after Luan gets some rest first.
Regardless of my current state of mind, a smile or coo from Giovanni can transform anyone! I just want the best for my little one and hope he is getting some rest so he can grow and develop well.

6 weeks
Happy 6 weeks Mr. Giovanni Nguyen!
This week has been great, just hanging out and enjoying family time. Walks here and there when the weather permits and playing tracking games since you prefer viewing the right side only. You have discovered your hands and now use them for soothing and hunger signs. We woke up today to the sound of you sucking your little hand till you got fed up and signaled you were ready to eat. Speaking of sleeping....I am so happy to say that last night you did 4-5 hr stretches, let's see if this keeps up, either way, thank you!!!!
6 week postpartum check up with Bernie went well. You measured at 13.8 oz and 22 in. WOW!!! I thought you were still at 10/11 oz, its crazy how big you are getting, I just don't see it, except for those gorgeous cheeks of yours. You love Mommy's milk sometimes every 2 hrs now you can go some stretches of 3 hrs. I don't know if it's because you wait so long, that you eat too fast and spit it up, or you have some reflux or I am producing too much milk, since I have been pumping everyday causing a strong Milk Letdown? We will figure it out!!! But since, you are growing so well, I don't think we have an issue here. lol. Bowel movements slowed down from 6-8 to 2-3 a day. Although its slowed down, more blow-outs are occurring, especially today all over daddy's lap. Hilarious! You seem to smile every time it occurs. We keep having to go through your clothes because you keep outgrowing them so fast.
Today we went to church, which you slept through just fine. I figured if we take you along to run errands to other crowded places, we can take you to church. I can't wait for flu season to be over, but let's be honest, it is really year round. Then we stopped by Grandpa Ramon's to drop off your 1 month pictures and enjoyed some lunch. You are finally enjoying time with Grandma Lety since you are always asleep when she gets home or eating, lol.
Since baby is 6 weeks, your mommy has vowed to start her workout routine. Yes, it's time, to not be lazy anymore....boo!!! Mommy was lazy the last 3 days and not pumped, you have been using the pacifier and I think that has messed with your latching, so mommy needed a break. But tomorrow we resume pumping and workouts. Now it's movie time with daddy! This week we have nothing planned, except for exchanging some of your lovely gifts for bigger sizes. lol. Grandma's bestfriend Josefina sent you a collection of clothing ranging from 3-12 months. A 12 month onsie, made mommy tear up because she can't imagine you being that big, but i know it will come. You are growing so fast and we enjoy your daily smiles and cuddle time.

Hello World!!!

Can U Resist Those Cheeks???
