37 week Checkup and Update

My Belly: Week 37
Today brings two beautiful words: full-term. Now, whenever baby's born, he's likely to thrive. Also thriving? Your nesting instincts, which are behind those sudden urges to bake, clean, or embroider a onesie. (Feminists, take your issue up with nature, not with us.)

Sweetpea:Now the size of a Watermelon!
Your full-term (yay!) baby is gaining about 1/2 ounce a day and getting his first sticky poop (called meconium) ready. He's also brushing up on skills for the outside world: blinking, sucking, inhaling, exhaling, and gripping (it's getting strong!).

So went for weekly appt since I'm full-term. crazy..! oh yea and was checked..I am 1 cm dilated and the cervix with baby's giant noggin are all in alignment. Good to know right, not comfortable to ummm be examined, but just breathe. I told my midwife that I would love it if baby delivered this weekend, so that I would not have to go back to work on Monday, lol. She said nope, I have paperwork to do and you need to enjoy your last days/weeks with your husband. I looked at her and it finally hit me, last days with my husband? what? OMG? I have had Poops all to myself for the last 11 years and 1 month and its been great! Once Sweetpea arrives, that two of us will never be again. Listen I am so happy for sweetpea and grateful do not take this negatively. It just hit me kind of hard, so what do I do???? I go in planning mode, we need to do this and that...Of course poops just takes it in and says "Ok Hon!"

Guess what, the room is finally painted! woohoo! I'll try to post pics, but you know how that is. lol. I will post them soon! Im busy setting everything up, I have all day tomorrow to clean and organize, years worth of things that now have no significance enough to keep anymore. Isn't that weird, I keep things for memories and now with baby..I just look at it and think junk, needs to go. Just trying to keep necessities. Poops is very proud of me, now if I can only show him his little things that he wont give up so easily...I can only do so much! Poops and Christine did all the hard labor of clearing, painting and placing everything back in the room! Thank you so much!!! So in gratitude I took them to Studio Movie Grill and we watched Avatar 3D. I actually liked it!! plus it had a romantic story line and good ending, two big attractions for me..=p

4Day Weekend! I love it! I am going to organize and get the final things on our list for baby. We need to put the carseat in, but I am insisting on my car being cleaned first. We still need a stroller because we ended up returning the one we got. We are so indecisive. I feel like we need more clothes, but Poops said not until baby is born, because we have exhausted all the neutral clothing options out there...lol! So nesting here I come!

9th Month

9 Month Check up Today, Baby looks good! Blood was withdrawn for anemia check up and routine strep test was done as well. The midwife gave us a nice little preview of SweetPea today, she guessed that he/she is about 7 lbs.....what?? 7lbs already really! oh my! Baby was moving all over the place and in great position for exit route. I set up my weekly appts till Mid January, so lets see how far I go. Will it be next week or 6-weeks from now, who knows. Its a waiting game with the timer in the hands of Sweetpea!! One more day of work and then 4 Day break! My little soulmate Christine comes home Christmas Eve at 11:30PM and I cannot wait! Christmas Day we have cookie bake-off and finally painting room.

36 Week-My Belly Update
Baby should soon descend into your pelvis, which will give your lungs a little room to breathe (literally). The bad news: This puts the brunt of baby's weight on your hips and pelvis, and will make them pretty sore. Add in your ever-loosening ligaments, and you may soon be taking on that oh-so-adorable pregnancy waddle.

Baby's still the size of a honeydew or close to a watermelon.
Baby's skin is getting smooth and soft, her gums are rigid, her liver and kidneys are in working order, and her circulation and immune system are basically good to go. Her lungs are the only organs that still need to fully mature, but every day she gets a little closer to breathing on her own.

bebe verde

Saturday, we woke up early to do our Rice Walk. Lets be honest i need more activity, bc I have been lacking my yoga practice. woops. Anywhoo, then I dragged my lovely hubby to Bebe Verde -a green baby boutique where they have a bi-monthly Cloth Diapering Class. Well all the research I was doing online was only confusing me...reading it vs actually getting a visual presentation is what I really needed. We asked questions and played with the different options...I also saw my hubby taking notes right along with me...I was impressed.

So the diapers we are most likely going to invest in are the following:
1. Gro-Baby
2. Flip
3. Econobum
These top 3 have inserts vs All in One, meaning you can reuse the cover (depending if it did not get dirty) and just replace a new insert and keep on going.
4. BumGenius 3.0
this one is a All in One but really good for naps or night-time because is separates the solids from the liquids.

We already have a Gro-Baby set and are going to slowly add to our collection. More than likely with the Econobum because its more in our price range.

Is this a green movement for us? Not necessarily, this is more a budget friendly move for us and on the upside it decreases on diaper rash issues. Did you know that you can save up to $1200 a year going cloth vs disposable. It would be really nice if I actually saw my savings in the form of a new Louis Vuitton.....oh yes Operation Baby Budget...ok im back on track. Reading all the things that are in disposable diapers just gives me goosebumps. Will I still use disposable diapers, yes more than likely when we are out and about or when I get tired or whenever.

Talk about options....When you become pregnant a whole new world of options opens up to you from feeding to birthing to vaccines to well diapers....etc. I mean through my ICPA classes I was given a variety of options that I did not take into consideration at the time, now if a patient comes in and asks about referrals or what my opinion is, I can easily answer those questions without hesitation. Now when it comes to my own health and that of my bun in the oven....people I am CLUELESS!!! It's as if any information I have stored just disappears when I have to make a decision. I am very lucky that Poops is open to all this, he is alot more Hippie (that's what my mother calls us due to our radical decisions) than I am, but we are trying to find a medium. I see it like this...our parents had choices on how to raise us...did they have all the answers NO. So we are now faced with choices to make...will they be the right ones..who knows....but we will trully find out in the end...and if all else fails...we tried it out and gave our child a taste of everything...=p

35th week

Your Pregnancy: Week 35
With baby's head pressing squarely on your bladder, you're probably clocking some quality time in the bathroom. On a similar note, if you're finding it tough to poop, load up on the fiber. Whole grains, veggies, and dried fruits (but not all at once!) should loosen things up.

Baby's now the size of a honeydew!
From now on, baby's growth is mostly in the plumping up department -- though he won't get much longer, he'll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth. (He's about 15 percent right now and will be about 30 percent by full-term.) His hearing is totally developed (tip: baby responds best to higher pitches), and if he really is a "he," his testes have probably completed their descent.

Im 30 Baby

30!!!
I had an amazing wknd, with its up and downs but it wouldn't be a Diva Birthday without it!
So we went to San Antonio Thursday night and stayed with Denise and Danny (DD). Friday we sort of slept in and then finally went to BigZ Burgers, which Poops finally enjoyed a 1lb burger, as so did my cousin. I stuck to my 1/4 burger because I knew better, boys are hard headed. Poops and I discovered Artisan Alley, little cute boutiques where we finally invested in one pair of cloth diapers(that was all the non gender selection available) after alot of discussion. We are going to start off slow and see how it goes. Gro Baby Cloth Diapers is the line we are using and ill give u a full review once we start using it. So I then spent the rest of the night catching up with Denise and researching cloth diapers the AIO or inserts, etc... I know amazing right!! No more clubbing for me its diaper research from now on or what stroller to attain. Poops is on a mission for the Uppa Baby Stroller, it's hilarious. I'm not one to talk because I was on a mission for a certain diaper bag and ended up with fun loving Paul Frank, which I fell in love with on the first day, but you know me I have to go in my circles.
Saturday, we went to breakfast at Magnolia Pancake Haus so yummy although they ran out of the pumpkin french toast, I settled for the Cinnamon Raisin French Toast and Poops had Cajun Omelet, which of course I resisted for about 5 min and was quickly won over. lol. DD spoiled me with cute Juicy Couture earrings and Poops gave me my annual Harry Potter DVD. Love it!!!! It seems to always release right on my bday and that's all i really wanted. So it was right on time!!
We then departed off for a day of window shopping to Fredricksburg, TX. So cute and love the drive thru the Hill Country. It's a must if you are ever in the area, cute German town, antiques, knick knacks, cafes, all along the main street. 5 hours disappeared quickly and then we jetted off to our favorite mid-Austin/SA historical landmark.....San Marcos Outlets. =p
Our favorite stomping ground. We had to take the farm roads from Fredricksburg to San Marcos and the fog was very strong. What is it with this random fog. anywhoo. We were very happy to discover holiday hours were in effect and then walked for 3 hours "window shopping." How those new items ended up in the trunk, I just don't remember...hmm memory is already leaving me,,,Ha!
Sunday...Met up with DD's and had brunch at Garibaldi's located by Lackland AFB. Ppl mexican food is so good in SA, don't ask me about Htown bc its all tex mex to me here. Yummy Breakfast tacos followed by more window shopping at La Canterra...Listen some ppl love museums, theatres, movies, etc, i love my "window shopping." Plus I have resisted visiting my old friends (Macy's, Nordstroms, Dillards, Nine West, etc) since pregnancy saving operation started and it was about time I caught up with everyone. We had birthing class in Houston that evening, but we decided to rest another night since we have been staying up so late catching up with DD and I was still experiencing that random burning pain on my left side that kept me up half the night.
Denise got me hooked on Dexter, ppl you must watch it, I need Season 4 ASAP! It was so good, its funny because I'm so worried Dexter might get caught, even though he is a serial killer. How funny is that? Trying to protect the "good" killer.. I got Denise hooked on Keeping Up with the Kardashiams so we are even! =p .I finally put myself to bed at 12AM...woops there went that rest opportunity...! 5:00 AM wake up call Today was not fun, but we said bye to DD and pulled out ready for a quick ride home to be stopped short by a flat tire. Poops finally gets it changed to realize the spare is flat as well. Thank god it only needed air or we would have really been in trouble. We finally get a move on things and stuck in this random fog all the way home. I was in and out of conversation due to my persistent evaluation of the back of my eyelids. Hey I offered to drive, but Poops wouldn't allow it, who am I to push him, I'm being the good wife!! I rushed to work and cant wait for 5pm to come around, so that I can finally rest. Man 30 already and exhausted!!! We were spoiled rotten by DD and we are very thankful and blessed. Now only 5 more weeks ppl and sweet pea will gift me with his/her presence!! It's great being 30!!!

34 weeks...

So I have been wanting to do this and not, I am currently writing in my uber cute Vera Bradley Journal titled Mommy's Journey with Sweetpea. I have not been as faithful as I originally planned, but still working on it. This is probably going to be more efficient for me in the long run, or a shortcut as Poops would say. I was supposed to have started packing my bags for the trip to the birthing center about two weeks ago, status: Negative. Will probably work on that next week. I dont think it has hit me that I have 6 weeks to go and maybe I should start doing something about it. hmmm. well u see the room is not complete, and I feel once we paint it, and reorganize once again, then maybe I will get a move on things. I keep thinking Im going to go till the 20th of January, but who knows, something has been making me think that maybe Sweetpea has a New Years Resolution to come early. 6 weeks can go by really fast when your weekends are packed with events or upcoming Holidays. Sweetpea has been so active lately, its awesome and the hiccups are finally noticeable, I was worried I was missing out on that. I love as my shirt pops everyonce in a while due to a nice kick or jab. I do not enjoy the lovely night trips to the restroom but I was always on the go. This Saturday is my 30th Birthday and I cant wait. I unfortunately cannot open my amazing present because little Sweetpea is still cooking in the oven. Wow I am going to be a MOM!! I was a planner and still try to be at times, so I am off schedule a little. When I was in high school I thought 28: a doctor, married maybe get pregnant. 35: House, 2.5 kids, dog, loving life. But thanks to Poops, I have calmed down by 10% and try not to plan things. Was Sweetpea planned or surprise....both. I initiated the topic right before our wedding and couple of months later...nada. Once poops talked me out of my craziness, sweetpea decided to say hello finally! So a little of both. Ok back to wow I am going to be a mom! Poops and I are still crazy in disbelief that in 6 weeks there will be a baby in the bassinett (that I insisted in putting up early) which is currently being used as a coat/clothes hanger. lol. woops. lets hope i dont forget once baby gets here...
Thanks to my birthing class this past weekend which was finally informative I am currently doing research regarding: Cloth diapers and breastpump. Im still on the fence regarding the diapers, esp since I have a nice little supply of disposables at home. I know that cloth is something I can do in the beginnning, but who knows how effectively it will play out once my mom gets a hold of sweetpea full-time. Ok my heart just stopped a beat, my mother by the way is driving me crazy, ok I can breathe now. There will prob be a lot of posts regarding that wonderful lady I love but fight with on a constant basis. We must find an appropriate nickname for her that I can repeat without getting in trouble. OMG did I tell yall that we were talking about names for Grandparents, and I said mom what do u want the baby to call u? She smiled and said Momma without hesitation. I told her she was crazy! Momma? Momma? R u crazy? I said thats nice, Ill give u a name if u dont come up with one soon. She is crazy! Although I heard Gramdiva the other day and I have claimed it once my time comes u know 50 years from now. lol. So today starts my bday pampering: Nails. Wed: Hair Thurs: vacay starts at 5 pm. Fri-Sun bday trip. Sun night: Birthing class (last one thank god) Mon:Massage!!!
I cant wait for sweetpea's arrival bc that also means that maternity leave starts!!! Two Months is what I am looking forward to even tough it will be hard, I will be at home with my little one and oh yea the hubby and baby bear.
So on to new beginnings.
